Why do the charities cost $0.01 to add to my cart? Is the charity only getting a penny as a donation?
It costs a penny to add a charity to your cart because the program that our store runs on (that Big Cartel is letting us use for free so that more money can go to the charities) won't let you add something to your cart unless it costs money. It isn't perfect, but until we grow a bit and can afford a custom solution it is all we've got. Don't worry that the it looks like the charity will only be getting a penny, as always, the charity you choose will get 100% of the profit from your purchase.
Can I choose more than one charity to donate to?
Sure! If you choose more than one charity during checkout, we will split the donation evenly among all of the charities that you selected.
How much money will the charity get from my purchase?
100% of our net profit is always donated to charity, but because our net profit changes each month we can't predict the exact dollar amount that will be donated. After we have been around a bit longer and have more data we will be able to make an educated guess at the amount, but right now we are still too new. We have very small incremental costs per sale, so the more we sell, the higher the percentage of each sale will end up in the hands of the charities, but if we have only a few sales the percentage from each sale will be smaller. Each charity has an account with us that we put money into at the end of each month. When the account reaches $50.00 the charity will be sent a check and the process begins all over. Because we are so new we do not yet have any "books" to show you. But soon we will provide you with a link to our financial reports so that you know exactly how we operate.
I don't have a PayPal account, can I still buy stuff from The Riders Project?
You sure can. When you checkout you can enter your credit card information without having (or signing up for) a PayPal account, just follow the on-screen instructions.
When will I get the stuff I bought?
All of the items purchased will be shipped within 2 business days of your purchase unless otherwise noted. We generally ship using USPS priority mail but we reserve the right to choose the shipping method unless specific arrangements have been made. This means that most items will arrive within 5 business days of your ordering. If you need to have an item by a particular date please let us know by emailing [email protected] to confirm that we will be able to meet the deadline. Occasionally there are circumstances that are out of our control and we are not able to ship within our normal schedule; if this is the case you will be notified of any delays via the email address you used during checkout.
What happened to the one item at a time sale? I loved it and I hate change, Boo Hoo!
No need to cry, it is just taking a little vacation while we make some changes and add some upgrades. We need more traffic before a one-at-a-time deal site can really make much money for the charities, so we are holding it back for awhile until we grow, so go tell your friends to check out the site!
